Introduction to Inquiry
For my inquiry topic, I will dive into the diverse world of health and fitness, more specifically increasing muscle mass, the three primary lifts, and decreasing my 5 kilometer run time. These 3 goals I believe are seen as the general benchmarks within the fitness world as it covers what is called the hybrid athlete model which looks at function over looks. At the current moment my statistics are as follows:
Weight: 190lbs
Bench: 200lbs
Squat: 280lbs
Deadlift: 290lbs
5km time: 5:30 min/km
I chose this inquiry as I feel as both a student and future teacher, its easy to get caught in the loop of “its been a long day, I’m just going to relax” and forget physical fitness. Also as a teacher your on your feet all day, and by prioritizing health now I can create the healthy habits to prevent future injury. By the end of this class, I want to increase all my lifts 10-20lbs each ,and decrease my 5km time to 5min/km. During this time I think I will be heavily relying on information from fitness YouTubers such as Jeff Nippard, and Will Tenyson, as well as nutrition trackers such as MyFitnessPal, or MacroFactor.
